Understanding the Migration Calendar

January to March (Calving Season): The herds gather on the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti and Ndutu area. This is calving season, with thousands of calves born daily. Predator activity is at its peak.

April to May (The Move West): As the rains end, the herds begin moving west and north through the central Serengeti.

June to July (Grumeti River Crossings): The herds reach the Grumeti River in the western Serengeti. The river crossings are dramatic and draw large crocodiles.
